Redcomb Pubs, a growing pub and bar operator run by Dan Shotton and Mark Draper, has opened a new whiskey-themed pop-up saloon bar above an existing site near London Charing Cross.
Further strengthening its central London portfolio, Double Barrel is located above The Theodore Bullfrog in Charing Cross, and has been created in collaboration with spirit brands from Diageo including Bulleit Bourbon, Johnnie Walker, Haig Club and Tanqueray.
The candlelit saloon is serving barrel-aged, seasonal cocktails, bar bites and high end whiskeys.
The cocktail menu has been devised by Chris Edwards of cocktail consultancy, Salts of the Earth and recently opened Alphabet Bar in Upper Street, Islington.
Serves include the Barrel Aged BBQ Old Fashioned, infused with smoke, orange and jerky; and a Folsom Prison Blues, with blueberry sherbet, bourbon and whites.
A selection of small plates and sides are available, such as slow-cooked pork shoulder tacos, Bulleit St Louis Ribs or whisky mac ‘n’ cheese.
Catering for up to 75 seated or 100 standing guests, Double Barrel is also available for private hire and celebrations, plus will host a calendar of whiskey tasting and cocktail making masterclasses.
“Situated above The Theodore Bullfrog in Charing Cross, one of our most popular and frequented pubs in central London, Double Barrel offers a great opportunity to work the pub’s space harder and capitalise on the ever-expanding footfall in the area,” comments Draper.
“It also offers us the opportunity to creatively stretch our offering and present something a little unique and engaging to this bustling area.
“With the festive season approaching, we’ve already seen a tremendous amount of interest in terms of hiring out the bar for private parties, plus the innovative menu and cocktail offering is well poised to attract a new audience to the site looking for something a little more experiential and fun.”
