Restaurant set to open above The Knave of Clubs
One Club Row will be an entirely separate space, with its own dedicated private entrance from the street at the rear of the building.
One Club Row, a new restaurant from chef Patrick Powell, James Dye and Benjy Leibowitz is set to open above The Knave of Clubs in Shoreditch in late March.
Located on the first floor, the restaurant will have its own dedicated private entrance from the narrow street at the rear of the building.
If The Knave is the team’s homage to the best of British pub culture and Dye's background at The Camberwell Arms, One Club Row is their tribute to the best of New York hospitality. Leibowitz will return to his early roots as a maître d’ in New York, greeting guests at the door and working the room.
Food and drink
In his role as culinary director for the building, Patrick Powell – formerly of Allegra, Midland Grand Dining Room and Chiltern Firehouse – has created the menu alongside his longtime former colleague and head chef, Attila Gellen. Taking cues from both the bistros and brasseries of Paris and New York’s iconic taverns, the menu will be rooted in simple, timeless classics, underpinned by the UK's seasonal produce.
Starters will include pickled jalapeño gougères or lobster and country ham croquettes, with mains featuring a burger au poivre, roasted cod with buckwheat polenta and girolles and pappardelle with kale, chanterelles and lemon. Desserts such as New York-style cheesecake, twice-baked chocolate cake with crème fraîche and Dutch baby pancakes will also be available.
From the bar, classic cocktails and Champagne will headline along with a selection of vermouth and ameros. The venue will take an old-world focus when it comes to wine, with a rotating by-the-glass offering.
The top floor above the restaurant has been transformed into private event spaces. The Dressing Room will accommodate private dining for 12 guests and The Living Room will seat 24, while the entire apartment will be available for events and parties with up to 60 guests.
Leibowitz says of the upcoming launch: "After a decade in New York, I'm so looking forward to working alongside our team on the floor and at the door, with a focus on guest experience and hospitality at the core of everything we do."
