Yummy Collection launches eatery Above the pub

Above has opened on the upstairs floor of The Victoria pub in Bow.

A new restaurant has opened on the upstairs floor of The Victoria pub in Bow, east London.

The Yummy Collection, which also operates Hammersmith restaurant Faber and Euston pub The Somers Town Coffee House, has launched Above, an intimate 26-cover restaurant 'above' its current pub operation.

The business, led by Anthony Pender, says the new offer is a "best of album" of its pubs and restaurants.

"This is a proud moment for us all and creating a space like this as a celebration has felt like a hobby in addition to a brilliant day job," says Pender. "It hasn’t been easy running a restaurant in recent years and in my early years I won’t lie, I had a hell of a lot to learn. Being here to celebrate is a massive testament to an incredible team."

Above and beyond

Designed as a colourful space, Above's menu revisits some of the dishes the Yummy team have most enjoyed cooking over the past 20 years, alongside favourites enjoyed by friends and guests.

As with the pub below, which focuses on seafood, sourcing remains central to the new space: the restaurant will showcase seasonal ingredients, trusted suppliers and highlight the relationships that have underpinned two decades of hospitality within the business.

To complement the food, Above features its own cocktail list.

“We wanted Above to feel like a gathering of friends," adds business partner Matt Ward. "A space that’s intimate, colourful and celebratory, where every dish and drink tells a part of our story. It’s about raising a glass to the people, suppliers and guests who’ve been with us on this journey and
without doubt shared in our trial and tribulations."

Above will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm, offering a limited number of covers.
