Signature Group launches Senior Chef Academy
The Edinburgh-based Signature Group has introduced its new Senior Chef Academy.
A Scottish pub operator and hospitality business has launched a UK-wide search for the next generation of culinary talent.
The Edinburgh-based Signature Group, which runs sites such as Cold Town House and The Spiritualist, is offering aspiring senior chefs the opportunity to take "the next big step" in their career, as part of its new Senior Chef Academy.
Applications are now being encouraged from junior and senior chefs, chef de partie level and head chefs from around the UK. Applications can be made here.
Entry into the Senior Chef Academy then includes a formal interview and a practical skills test to assess readiness and potential. First stage interviews and practical assessments will take place at The Rutland in Edinburgh in November.
Under the mentorship of Ian Boyd Thorpe (above left), executive chef at Signature Group’s Rutland Hotel in Edinburgh, a successful applicant will join the first intensive three-month development programme in November and start honing their cooking skills before Christmas.
"We’re really excited to be launching our Senior Chef Academy just in time for the festive season," says Tom Adam, head of food for Signature Group (above right). "This structured, three-month development programme has been designed to support aspiring senior chefs in building the skills, confidence and leadership required to thrive in our kitchens across the Signature portfolio.
"This is a unique opportunity to learn our standards and systems, receive mentorship and grow into a role that matches your strengths and ambitions."
Signature style
Over three months, participants will receive hands-on training, mentorship and leadership development, culminating in a tailored role placement aligned with their strengths and future potential.
Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to gain even more experience across Signature’s Scotland-wide portfolio of over 20 venues, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews and Bridge of Allan, near Stirling.
The Senior Chef Academy is expected to continue to run every three months throughout 2026, with at least one full-time senior chef position being offered at the end of each programme.
"If you’re looking to take the next step in your career, we’re offering excellent opportunities for development and progression," adds Boyd Thorpe. "Our kitchens are built on teamwork, support and professional growth, so we’ll help you reach your career goals every step of the way."
