London pub to launch Portuguese Sunday roasts
The Macbeth Hoxton is introducing Portuguese Sunday roasts.
An east London pub is putting its own twist on the Sunday roast, taking culinary inspiration from Portugal.
The Macbeth's new Sunday menu will include roast beef with all the trimmings, and a whole or half roast chicken with rice, potatoes and house-made piri-piri sauce.
Located in Hoxton, the pub is the debut solo venture from chef Jamie Allan, previously of Four Legs and The Plimsoll in Finsbury Park.
The Sunday menu also features fish pies for sharing and a seasonal vegetable gratin.
To mark the launch, The Macbeth has invited Rodger Grant of Soul Partizan Radio to host a daytime broadcast of soul, funk and reggae, with DJs taking over from 6pm, a gentle nod to the pub’s previous life as a live music venue.
The Macbeth has been a fixture of Hoxton Street since the mid-1800s.
