Gills to open first wine bar

Chef Robin Gill and his wife Sarah are to open a Parisian-inspired wine bar called Bottle & Rye.

Chef Robin Gill and his wife Sarah, owners of restaurants Bermondsey Larder, Sorella, Darby’s and Rye by The Water, are to open a Parisian-inspired wine bar called Bottle & Rye.

Opening this July, the new Brixton site on Market Row will seat 28 guests, open all day and serve a list of ever-changing natural wines.

Lewis Wright, who has worked with Gill since 2013, will be heading up the front-of-house. He has curated a wine list with a focus on minimal intervention wines from across Europe. Bottles start at £26 and glasses at £5.

There will also be a food menu that pays homage to the all-day bistros of Paris, with dishes that play on French classics.

“Bottle & Rye is inspired by the Parisian café culture that Sarah and I are so fond of," says Gill. "These bistros are filled from morning through to night and we love how these little gems are embraced by the city. I’m very excited to be opening my first restaurant in Brixton, an area where I’ve lived for most of my London life.”

Bottle & Rye will open in mid-July following a soft launch.
