Escapism Bar Group to launch second Mean-Eyed Cat

Escapism Bar Group is venturing into Liverpool with the launch of its second Mean-Eyed Cat Bar.

Escapism Bar Group, the Leeds-based outfit founded by Phil and Mel Harrison, is venturing into Liverpool with the launch of its second Mean-Eyed Cat Bar.

Named after one of Johnny Cash’s signature songs, the new site will open in the city centre’s Seel Street area.

The original Mean-Eyed Cat Bar, located on Merrion Street in Leeds, has enjoyed nearly two decades of business. It is part of a Leeds-based portfolio of seven other Escapism Bar Group venues.

"After the success we have enjoyed in Leeds, Liverpool was our next desired location," says Phil. "Personally, I have a huge love for the city, and the theme behind our whole ethos sits perfectly with Liverpool’s musical history.

"We have already started assembling a great team. The city is certainly not short of fun-loving, hard-working people, and I also want to underline that we are an all-encompassing venue. Everybody is welcome, as long as they love music and a good time."

With a capacity of up to 300 people, the venue will offer guests free homemade pizza with every drink before 9pm. It will open Friday 24 February.
