In his new role, Nakamura (pictured) will oversee the creative development of the bar's drinks lists, working alongside the bar manager to manage the laboratory, train mixologists and uphold standards while also pushing the boundaries of creativity through the drinks menu.
Nakamura joins The Churchill Bar & Terrace from The Peninsula Tokyo, Japan, where he held the position of head bartender at Peter: The Bar.
Bringing a wealth of experience garnered throughout his 10-year career, Nakamura has won numerous awards and holds the honourable Japanese Tea Ceremony teacher licence.
Sustainability plays a big part in the cocktails at The Churchill Bar & Terrace
"I am thrilled to be part of The Churchill Bar & Terrace's team, whose acclaimed reputation and enticing drinks list focusing on sustainability is what drew me to the establishment initially," says Nakamura. "Since attending a cocktail competition in this bar years ago, I have wanted to return. As an avid traveller, it has always been a dream of mine to bring my global knowledge to a new location, particularly one as exciting, energetic and trend-setting as London, the pioneer city for the drinks industry, and so I very much look forward to combining all these aspects at The Churchill."
The appointment completes The Churchill Bar & Terrace's team, which saw the hiring of Gaston Fusco as bar manager in the autumn. There will be a new menu launch in spring. Echoing the different nationalities of the bar team, the new menu promises to take guests on a journey through different cultures through ingredients and sensations while keeping sustainability at its core.
