Butcombe Group launches its Big Table Talk
Butcombe’s Big Table Talk is a weekly invitation to those who may be looking for company.

A selection of pubs across the south of England have launched a new initiative to combat loneliness, encourage connections and bring people together.
Launched by the Butcombe Group, Butcombe’s Big Table Talk is a weekly invitation to those who may be looking for company, alone or with friends, to go to a pub, and enjoy a free tea or coffee and conversations with other members of the local community.
"Pubs are the original social network, somewhere at the heart of communities for people to come together and socialise," says Jamie Queen, chief growth officer of Butcombe Group. "No one should feel alone, so here at Butcombe, we are launching Butcombe’s Big Table Talk where everyone is welcome, to encourage genuine connections and conversations which, hopefully, will make a big difference.
"We’re encouraging those looking to meet and make connections to come along to one of our participating pubs, meet others and get chatting. Let’s build a stronger, more supportive community, one conversation at a time."
Award-winning venues
In 2024, Butcombe Group's The George Inn Norton St Philip was named National Pub & Bar of the Year at the National Pub & Bar Awards.
Entries for the annual event are now open, with 94 County Winner accolades up for grabs from every part of the country.
Operators can find out more and enter their businesses at the National Pub & Bar Awards website.
