Irish singing pub to open in Southwark this spring

Molly Mc’s will be the sixth venue for the Mc & Sons business.

The family-run pub business Mc & Sons is set to launch its next venue in Southwark this spring, bringing a traditional 'Irish singing pub' to central London.

Molly Mc’s, the sixth venue for the group, will offer live music, singing rooms and an extensive list of Irish spirits.

Founded by Irish brothers John and Ryan Mc Elhinney, and their father Jack, the family-run Mc & Sons Group is known for blending traditional Irish and contemporary London pub cultures.

Molly Mc’s will draw inspiration from the life and spirit of Mary Mc Elhinney, their grandmother, known as Molly.

"Our pubs have always been about more than just serving drinks," says Ryan. "They’re about fostering a sense of community and belonging. With Molly Mc’s, we’re not just opening another pub; we’re creating a space that embodies the warmth, generosity and spirit of our grandmother. Molly had an incredible ability to bring people together, whether in her home or through her business, and that’s exactly what we want to reflect here.

"From live trad music to intimate shebeen-style spaces, every detail is designed to make people feel at home – a place where stories are shared, friendships are formed and everyone is welcomed."

The bar will feature reclaimed vintage décor, warm wood tones and curated memorabilia celebrating Molly’s legacy. Images of her, personal letters and newspaper clippings covering her successes will be included in the interior.

In the main bar, guests can also book snugs as well as shebeen-style singing rooms.

The cocktail menu will celebrate the very best of Ireland’s distilleries, featuring a curated selection of spirits from across the Emerald Isle, alongside a menu of Thai dishes, inspired by the long history of Thai food in London pubs.
